If you have a downhill pitch to a slippery green, try to land the ball in the rough before the fringe. This way, the rough will act as a soft landing spot and “kill” the speed of the shot so that it pops out slowly, dribbles onto the green, and rolls to the hole. Practice hitting high pitches so you can drop them just about a foot from the fringe so you can use this shot when faced with it in a tournament.
